What is meditation?

Meditation is both a state of heightened awareness, as well as a practice designed to attain this state. 

In this state the mind is calm, focused, one pointed. Instead of moving from thought to thought, the mind is centered. There is a sense of well being, calmness, and timelessness.

The personal connection you share with a teacher is important in order to guide you through personal blocks and obstacles that may disconnect you from your practice. Meditation apps are helpful tools when you're just finding out about meditation, but they don't provide a sense of connection. By learning directly from an experienced teacher, you will get direct experience and applicable knowledge, as well as the support and inspiration you need. With the the proper tools you will learn how to develop a practice on your own. You can learn to meditate anywhere, anytime, for the rest of your life.
